Some hardware keys, especially Fn and certain media keys, are handled by the keyboard or operating system and may never reach the browser.

How to check your keyboard

  1. Press each physical key once and make sure its on-screen key turns green.
  2. For gaming combinations, hold keys together. Try W + A + Shift + Space and watch “Held now”.
  3. If a key stays gray, test it in another app or browser before treating it as a hardware fault.

What a failed key looks like

A dead or blocked key produces no browser event, so its tile never changes. Missing keys only during multi-key combinations point more toward rollover or ghosting limits than a dead switch.
